Breaking news! CMA CGM to overhaul its South America East route by year-end!
2026-10-09

The updated network enhances direct port coverage across Brazil, strengthens end-to-end connectivity between Asia and South America, and expands transshipment options to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent.

SEAS 2: Expanded coverage across China and Brazil

The reconfigured SEAS 2 service will commence operations from Asia aboard the CMA CGM COBALT, with its first departure from Tianjin Xingang scheduled for 14 December 2026.

Revised rotation:

Tianjin → Qingdao → Shanghai → Ningbo → Shekou → Singapore → Rio de Janeiro → Santos → Paranaguá → Itapoá → Itajaí → Santos → Rio de Janeiro → Colombo → Singapore

This loop ensures direct calls at key ports across northern, central, and southern China, as well as five major Brazilian ports—including Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranaguá, Itapoá, and Itajaí. In addition, through strategic interline cooperation with MERCOSUL Line, the service extends reach to ports along Brazil’s northeast coast. Singapore and Colombo serve as key transshipment hubs, enabling seamless onward connections to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent. The service will operate on a weekly frequency.

SEAS A: Enhanced Plata Basin access and dedicated reefer connectivity

The upgraded SEAS A service will launch on 17 December 2024, with the CMA CGM XENON departing from Ningbo.

Revised rotation:

Ningbo → Shanghai → Shekou → Singapore → Santos → Navegantes → Montevideo → Buenos Aires → Navegantes → Santos → Coega → Singapore

The call at Coega Port (South Africa) remains subject to final confirmation of berth availability.

SEAS A delivers direct, dedicated coverage of Argentina and Uruguay, supporting both import and export requirements across the broader Plata Basin region. To optimize cargo flow efficiency, the service includes double calls at Santos and Navegantes—facilitating balanced handling of inbound and outbound shipments. Furthermore, the revised loop significantly reinforces CMA CGM’s refrigerated container (reefer) network by linking perishable exports from South America’s east coast with key markets in Africa, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Asia.

These adjustments form part of CMA CGM’s broader strategic realignment of its Far East–East Coast South America trade lane and are scheduled to take effect in mid-December 2026.
