Maersk Announces Changes to Multimodal Fuel Surcharge Rules for 5 Balkan Countries!
2026-10-09

The updated Export and Import Fuel Surcharges will take effect on 1 October 2026, effective with the date of cargo delivery, and shall remain in force until further notice.

The revised surcharge rates are as follows:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina 14.0%

  • Montenegro           10.0%

  • Croatia                     10.0%

  • Serbia                     14.5%

  • Slovenia                     10.0%

Maersk stated that these temporary adjustments reflect sustained upward pressure on global energy prices, compounded by supply chain disruptions arising from ongoing security developments in the Middle East—both of which have materially affected fuel procurement costs and inland transportation expenses.

According to Maersk, the surcharge revisions aim to ensure uninterrupted service delivery, safeguard end-to-end cargo flow integrity, and maintain adequate capacity among contracted inland transport providers across its landside logistics network.
