This measure applies universally—to all cargo origins and across all trade lanes—and is currently scheduled to remain in effect through 31 December 2026.
Hapag-Lloyd attributes the operational challenges to severely limited empty-container return capacity and escalating cargo backlogs, both of which are exacerbating pressure on terminal infrastructure and logistics efficiency at the affected ports.
During the suspension period, no new bookings will be accepted for the three designated destinations. For confirmed bookings already in the system, Hapag-Lloyd’s customer service teams will proactively liaise with affected stakeholders to assess feasibility and, where necessary, coordinate cancellations or alternative logistical arrangements.
Shippers with cargo currently en route to these destinations are advised to contact their respective local Hapag-Lloyd representatives for timely, shipment-specific updates and support.
The carrier is actively collaborating with local terminal operators, customs authorities, and logistics partners to alleviate existing backlogs and restore sustainable container circulation. Should the suspension timeline be adjusted, an official announcement will be issued separately.
