1. Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) – Mediterranean to North America
Effective 5 October 2026, Maersk will apply a PSS of USD 250 per TEU on all dry containers—including 20-foot, 40-foot, and 45-foot high-cube units—as well as 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers (reefers), for shipments originating from both the West and East Mediterranean regions to ports in the United States and Canada. The surcharge remains in effect until further notice.
The West Mediterranean origin zone comprises Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Algeria, Spain, France, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Morocco, Malta, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Tunisia.
The East Mediterranean origin zone includes Bulgaria, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Lebanon, Romania, Türkiye, and Ukraine.
2. Congestion Fee Destination (CFD) – Durban
Maersk has expanded the geographical scope of its CFD for Durban to include cargo originating from the Indian Subcontinent, in addition to existing origins in the Far East Asia and Middle East regions. The fee applies uniformly regardless of the terminal handling the container at the Port of Durban.
The CFD is structured as follows:
USD 250 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU);
USD 500 per 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU).
Implementation dates are tiered by country group:
15 September 2026 for non-regulated countries;
18 September 2026 for Vietnam;
3 October 2026 for South Korea.
