Maersk will revise its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for containerized shipments originating in Far East Asia and destined for Mexico, the West Coast of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean (C1E trade lane), effective 3 August 2026 for most origin countries. Shipments originating in the Republic of Korea will be subject to the revised PSS from 14 August 2026. The surcharge remains in effect until further notice.

The revised PSS amounts to USD 750 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) for both dry and refrigerated (reefer) containers, and USD 1,500 per 40-foot and 45-foot dry and reefer containers.

Applicable origins include the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and other Far East Asian markets. Destinations encompass Mexico, ports along the West Coast of South America (including Chile, Peru, and Ecuador), Central American countries, and select Caribbean nations.

Maersk confirms that the PSS applies uniformly across standard and specialized equipment types—including dry containers, reefers, flat-rack containers, open-top containers, tank containers, and other ISO-compliant special-purpose units—provided they are deployed on the C1E trade lane.
