The CAX service was initially launched in 2025 as a seasonal offering; however, only one voyage was completed due to delayed commencement—occurring toward the latter part of the Arctic navigation window.
For the 2026 season, Sea Legend Shipping plans to conduct eight scheduled sailings between mid-August and late October, representing a substantial expansion of operational frequency and service scope.
The service will be supported by a fleet of seven container vessels, with nominal capacities ranging from 1,500 to 4,900 TEUs.
During the Arctic summer months—when reduced sea ice permits safe and commercially viable navigation—the NSR provides a geographically shorter alternative to conventional east–west shipping corridors, including the Suez Canal route, thereby offering carriers enhanced transit efficiency and potential logistical advantages.
