This deployment forms a key enabler of Hapag-Lloyd’s Strategy 2030 and underpins its enterprise-wide digital transformation agenda.
Having partnered with Inmarsat for nearly 25 years, Hapag-Lloyd initiated trials of NexusWave in 2024 to evaluate a next-generation, future-proof connectivity solution aligned with evolving operational and regulatory requirements.
The validation program rigorously assessed four core dimensions: operational performance, cybersecurity resilience, application uptime and reliability, and crew welfare outcomes.
Crew feedback highlighted consistently high-quality, low-latency internet access—described as “home-like”—with seamless global coverage, even in remote maritime zones.
NexusWave integrates Ka-band, low Earth orbit (LEO), LTE, and L-band networks into a unified, carrier-grade managed service. It delivers high-throughput, unlimited-data connectivity and end-to-end encrypted communications across the fleet.
The platform will facilitate real-time cross-functional collaboration, remote IT infrastructure management, data-intensive applications—including AI-enabled vessel performance analytics—and continuous operational monitoring.
Under the agreement, Hapag-Lloyd will also benefit from Inmarsat’s Premium Care Programme, offering 24/7 proactive technical support and on-site maintenance services at over 80 major ports worldwide.
Hapag-Lloyd emphasizes that the platform will enhance end-to-end customer service delivery, drive measurable improvements in operational efficiency, and advance its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments—including decarbonization-linked digital optimization initiatives.
