Ocean Network Express (ONE) has introduced the Mediterranean Africa Express (MAX), a new weekly container shipping service designed to enhance direct maritime connectivity between West Africa and major global trade corridors.
The service commences on 7 July 2026, with the following port rotation: Algeciras → Tangier → Dakar → Tema → Lekki → Abidjan → Algeciras.
As a dedicated intra-regional and transcontinental link, MAX establishes direct connections between West African ports and ONE’s strategic Mediterranean hub network—centered on Algeciras and Tangier. Through these hubs, shippers gain seamless access to integrated services serving the Far East, Northern Europe, the Indian Subcontinent, North America, and Latin America.
The launch responds to sustained demand in West Africa for resilient, schedule-reliable ocean transport and enhanced supply chain agility—particularly amid evolving regional infrastructure development and growing export diversification efforts.
Customers benefit from coordinated onward connections across ONE’s global network, enabling simplified cargo routing, improved transit time visibility, and greater end-to-end logistics control.
Mr. Hiroshi Hosaka, Managing Director of ONE (Europe), affirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Africa’s maritime connectivity and economic integration. He emphasized that the MAX service not only reinforces West Africa’s integration into core global trade lanes but also delivers scalable, network-backed solutions aligned with customers’ evolving regional and international logistics requirements.
