MSC announces major adjustment to European route rates

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has introduced revised Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates for containerized shipments originating from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan to key European ports, effective 15 July 2026 and valid until 31 July 2026, unless otherwise extended by official notice.


For exports from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh:  

  • From Colombo to Antwerp and Valencia: USD 2,550 per 20-foot dry van (20DV) and USD 2,850 per 40-foot dry van/high cube (40DV/HC);  

  • From Chattogram to Antwerp and Valencia: USD 2,550 per 20DV and USD 3,350 per 40DV/HC.


For exports from India and Pakistan:  

  • To Antwerp: USD 4,150 per TEU from Nhava Sheva (India) and Port Qasim (Pakistan); USD 4,350 per TEU from Ennore; and USD 4,450 per TEU from Kolkata;  

  • To Valencia: USD 4,250–4,550 per TEU, varying by port of loading.

The announced FAK rates encompass base ocean freight, the Contingency Adjustment Charge (CAC), Piracy Risk Surcharge (PRS), and Emission Control Area (ECA) surcharges. Additional destination- and origin-specific surcharges—including Bunker Recovery Charge (BRC), EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) levy, FuelEU Maritime compliance fee, Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS), Terminal Handling Charges (THC), and security-related fees—will apply separately and are subject to prevailing contractual terms and regulatory requirements.
