CMA CGM introduces new PSS for Africa trades
2026-06-12

The revised surcharges will enter into force on June 15, 2026, and will remain effective until further notice.

For shipments departing from Southeast Asia to West Africa, CMA CGM has implemented a surcharge of US$500 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).

This surcharge is applicable to all service ranges covering West Africa, and extends to all dry and refrigerated cargo transported under short-term contracts.

CMA CGM has additionally announced new peak season surcharges for East Africa trade lanes. For cargo shipped from China to Mozambique, the carrier has implemented a PSS of US$200 per TEU, which applies to both dry and refrigerated cargo under short-term contracts.

Furthermore, shipments originating from South China to Tamatave, Madagascar will be subject to a surcharge of US$200 per TEU, which also applies to dry and refrigerated cargo transported under short-term agreements.

The latest surcharge adjustments come as container carriers continue to revise pricing structures across African trade lanes amid growing cargo demand and sustained market pressure.
