MSC update FAK rate to Europe, Med & Black Sea
2026-05-17

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates effective for all containerized shipments originating from ports across the Far East—including Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Southeast Asia—and destined for Northern Europe, the Mediterranean region (divided into West Mediterranean/Adriatic and East Mediterranean sub-regions), the Black Sea, and selected North African ports.

The revised FAK rates will take effect on June 1, 2026, and remain valid until June 14, 2026, unless otherwise amended by MSC.

Rates are quoted in US dollars per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU), respectively:

• Northern Europe: USD 2,820 (TEU) / USD 4,700 (FEU)

• West Mediterranean & Adriatic: USD 3,750 (TEU) / USD 5,500 (FEU)

• East Mediterranean: USD 3,800 (TEU) / USD 5,400 (FEU)

• Black Sea: USD 3,850 (TEU) / USD 5,500 (FEU)

• North Africa (outport destinations):

  1. Algeria: USD 5,650 (TEU) / USD 7,900 (FEU)

  2. Tunisia: USD 5,450 (TEU) / USD 7,500 (FEU)

  3. Libya: USD 5,350 (TEU) / USD 7,200 (FEU)

  4. Morocco (Casablanca): USD 4,550 (TEU) / USD 6,500 (FEU)

The elevated rates for North African destinations reflect their classification as outports—i.e., locations outside the primary hub-and-spoke network—entailing higher handling, transshipment, and logistical costs.
