GT Lines launche dedicated China–Gulf service
2026-04-12

Gulftainer has launched the Khor Fakkan China Express (KCX 1), a dedicated biweekly container liner service connecting key Chinese ports—including Qingdao, Shanghai, and Nansha—with Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates.

Strategically located outside the Strait of Hormuz, Khor Fakkan is the UAE’s only major container port accessible without transiting this geopolitically sensitive waterway. While the port and its anchorage area have experienced security incidents during recent regional hostilities, operational continuity has been maintained in coordination with relevant authorities.

Operated under Gulftainer’s GT Lines brand, KCX 1 deploys three dedicated vessels to provide direct, scheduled container transportation between major Chinese export hubs and the Khor Fakkan Commercial Terminal. This service reduces end-to-end transit times and enhances schedule reliability for cargo destined for the UAE and onward distribution across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets.

By strengthening maritime connectivity and offering an alternative gateway for China–Gulf trade, KCX 1 reinforces Khor Fakkan Port’s role as a strategic consolidation hub—improving supply chain visibility, resilience, and planning certainty for shippers on this corridor.

Headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, Gulftainer is a privately held global port operator and integrated logistics provider, with core competencies in container terminal management, marine services, and end-to-end supply chain solutions across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
