CMA CGM has announced revised Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates for containerized shipments from major Asian ports to the Western Mediterranean, Adriatic Sea, Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea, and North Africa, effective November 1–14, 2026. Concurrently, the carrier has introduced Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on select trade lanes, including west coast South America–to–Central/Eastern Americas & Caribbean routes and Northern Europe–to–North Africa services.
Under the updated FAK structure, all-inclusive base freight rates for dry, refrigerated, out-of-gauge, and paying-empty containers now range as follows:
These rates incorporate base ocean freight, Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF), EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) levies, and Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS). Terminal handling charges (THC), safety and security fees, and other locally applicable surcharges remain excluded and will be billed separately.
In addition, a USD 150 per TEU Peak Season Surcharge will apply—effective November 1, 2026—to dry cargo originating from the west coast of South America and destined for the eastern coasts of Central America and Mexico, the Caribbean, the Leeward and Windward Islands, the east coast of South America, Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
A separate EUR 150 per TEU surcharge will take effect on November 7, 2026, for all cargo types shipped from Northern Europe (excluding Spain and Portugal) to North Africa (excluding Morocco). Notably, this surcharge is supplementary to standard bunker-related, terminal handling, and other applicable charges, which continue to apply in full.
