The vessel is the sixth in a series of CMA CGM containerships named after iconic figures from French literature. Its name honors the eponymous protagonist of Alfred de Musset’s 1834 verse drama "Lorenzaccio", a landmark work of French Romanticism.
Under the command of Captain Predrag Vojvodic, the "CMA CGM Lorenzaccio" will be deployed on the carrier’s weekly Red Sea Express 2 (REX2) service. This service links key Asian ports—including Shanghai, Ningbo, and Yantian—with major Red Sea gateways: Djibouti, Jeddah, Ain Sokhna, and Aqaba.
The introduction of the "CMA CGM Lorenzaccio" further strengthens CMA CGM’s fleet of methanol-ready vessels, underscoring the company’s strategic commitment to decarbonization and its ongoing investment in next-generation container ships capable of operating on low-carbon alternative fuels.
