Big move! Dubai shipping giant suddenly launches new route
2026-10-20

Dubai-based Marsa Ocean Shipping has announced the launch of a new India–Gulf service, the India Gulf Express (IGX), connecting key Indian ports with Sohar and Fujairah in Oman and the United Arab Emirates, respectively, as reported by Alphaliner.

The IGX marks Marsa Ocean’s second dedicated service linking India with the Gulf region. As part of a broader network optimization, the port of Sohar will be removed from the carrier’s existing Mundra–Gulf–Rotterdam (MGR) service.

Revised India–Gulf Network Overview:

• India Gulf Express (IGX): A weekly service deploying a single 1,100-TEU vessel on a 21-day loop:  Mundra → Nhava Sheva → Sohar → Fujairah → Mundra.

• Mundra–Gulf–Rotterdam (MGR) Service: Revised to operate fortnightly using two 1,200-TEU vessels on the following rotation:  Kochi → Nhava Sheva → Fujairah → Salalah → Fujairah → Kochi.

The IGX service is designed to provide enhanced, dedicated connectivity between Mundra and Nhava Sheva—India’s two largest container ports—and the strategic Gulf hubs of Sohar and Fujairah.
