Maersk latest notice: Full revision of FSC for Southeast Europe inland
2026-10-14

Maersk will adjust its Balkan Intermodal Fuel Surcharge (FSC) for truck-based inland transportation across five Southeast European markets, effective 15 October 2026. The revised Import Fuel Surcharge rates—calculated based on the Price Calculation Date (PCD) of 15 October 2026—will remain in effect until further notice.

The updated FSC rates are as follows:

Country

Previous

Revised Rate

Bosnia and Herzegovina

14.0 %
17.0 %

Croatia

10.0 %
8.0 %

Serbia

14.5 %
14.5 %

Slovenia

10.0 %
8.0 %

Montenegro

10.0 %
8.0 %

Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only market experiencing an increase—by 3.0 percentage points—while Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro each see a reduction of 2.0 percentage points. Serbia’s rate remains unchanged.

Maersk attributes these adjustments to sustained upward pressure on global energy prices and regional fuel supply constraints, both exacerbated by ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East.

Effective 15 October 2026, Maersk will apply the Import Fuel Surcharge to all new import bookings automatically, using the applicable FSC rate corresponding to the PCD. For import shipments not yet integrated into the PCD-based calculation system, the surcharge will continue to be applied manually—based on the scheduled delivery date—provided it has not already been invoiced.

These temporary adjustments reflect Maersk’s commitment to ensuring service continuity, preserving transport capacity across its landside intermodal network, and maintaining operational resilience amid evolving macroeconomic and logistical conditions.
