These FAK rates are effective from 19 October 2026 and will remain in force until further notice, with a definitive expiry date of 31 October 2026.
The applicable base rates reflect port-to-port ocean carriage only and apply exclusively to standard dry containers. Outport movements are subject to additional Transport Additional Origin and Destination (TAOD) charges, as stipulated in MSC’s tariff guidelines.
Base FAK Rates (USD per TEU):
Included in the base FAK rates are:
Ocean freight charge;
Global Fuel Surcharge (GFS): USD 253 per TEU (applicable for October 2026);
Emission Control Area (ECA) Surcharge: USD 15 per TEU for Mediterranean and selected North European ports; USD 52 per TEU for other Nordic and Baltic ports.
Optional or conditional surcharges—subject to vessel routing, regulatory requirements, and cargo profile—may include:
Carbon Limitation Surcharge: USD 20 per TEU;
Carbon Review Surcharge: USD 88 per TEU (North Europe); USD 128 per TEU (Mediterranean);
Piracy Risk Surcharge: USD 55 per TEU (applicable to services transiting the Suez Canal);
Suez Canal Surcharge: USD 36 per TEU (applicable to services utilizing the Suez Canal waterway).
Please note: These FAK rates do not apply to IMO-classified hazardous cargoes or high-value commodities. Terminal handling charges (THC), documentation fees, customs-related levies, and other locally applicable charges remain separate and are not incorporated in the stated FAK tariffs.
