The RRI applies to all tariff-based and service contract rates within this trade lane. It covers exports from designated Western Mediterranean ports—including Italy, France, Morocco, and the Spanish Mediterranean ports of Valencia, Barcelona, and Algeciras—and extends to all U.S. destination points served via East Coast, Gulf Coast, and West Coast gateways, including inland locations connected through those ports.
The RRI is structured by container type as follows:
20-foot containers: USD 250 per TEU
40-foot and 40-foot high-cube (HC) containers: USD 500 per FEU
45-foot containers: USD 500 per FEU
The surcharge applies to all standard dry and refrigerated container shipments; out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo is explicitly excluded.
In addition to the RRI, standard ancillary charges remain applicable, including bunker adjustment factors (BAFs), terminal handling charges (THCs), safety and security surcharges, contingency surcharges, and other locally assessed fees—subject to contractual terms and regulatory requirements.
