Maersk will implement a new Empty Container Pick-Up Fee for export shipments originating from Riga, Latvia, where the empty container is collected in Riga but subsequently exported via a port located outside Latvia.

This fee applies exclusively when both of the following conditions are satisfied:

1. The empty container is picked up at a designated location in Riga; and  

2. The Port of Loading (POL) for the export shipment is situated outside Latvia.

The fee will be applied automatically upon fulfillment of both criteria.  

Please note that Maersk’s official advisory does not specify an effective date for this charge. Consequently, no definitive implementation timeline can be confirmed based on the current announcement.
