Maersk's masterstroke redefines West Coast shuttle service
2026-08-06

This upgraded service replaces the previous single-vessel shuttle operating between Balboa (Panama) and Posorja (Ecuador) with a more robust three-vessel deployment. According to Maersk, the expanded network delivers enhanced port coverage, improved intermodal connectivity, and greater operational flexibility throughout the Americas.

The inaugural sailing will be conducted by the vessel AS PALINA on voyage 639N, departing from Posorja on 20 September 2026.

The West Coast Shuttle introduces direct containerized connections between the Mexican ports of Lázaro Cárdenas and Manzanillo and Posorja in Ecuador—strengthening trans-Pacific supply chain efficiency and offering accelerated transit times for cargo originating from Asia.

Additionally, Maersk will integrate its existing Guayaquil Feeder service into the expanded West Coast Shuttle network, ensuring continued and seamless access to the Ecuadorian market under the new operational framework.
