Crazy? Shipping company actually opens a route to Mogadishu!
2026-07-09

Akkon Lines has extended its East Africa–Indian Subcontinent (EAS) container service to include Mogadishu, Somalia, as confirmed by industry sources.

The revised service will be operated by two vessels, each with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEU, on a biweekly schedule.

The updated port rotation is: Nhava Sheva (India) → Mundra (India) → Karachi (Pakistan) → Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) → Mombasa (Kenya) → Mogadishu (Somalia) → return to Nhava Sheva.

This extension introduces direct, scheduled container vessel coverage for Mogadishu within Akkon Lines’ EAS network—marking the first such dedicated maritime link between the Indian Subcontinent and Somalia—and enhances end-to-end connectivity across the western Indian Ocean trade corridor.
