Maersk splurges big to acquire KKR's assets
2026-07-06

Headquartered in Oslo, Ocean Yield holds ownership or long-term lease interests in over 70 modern, high-specification vessels across key shipping segments—including liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, gas carriers, container ships, crude oil, refined products, and chemical tankers, as well as dry bulk vessels.

Since acquiring Ocean Yield in 2021, KKR has facilitated more than USD 3 billion in capital deployment, supporting the company’s fleet diversification, expansion of its blue-chip customer base, and growth of its long-term contracted revenue backlog to over USD 5 billion.

Martin Larsen, Chief Financial Officer of A.P. Moller Holding, stated that Ocean Yield’s resilient cash flow profile and asset-light, contract-driven business model represent a highly complementary addition to the Group’s existing maritime investment portfolio.

Andreas Rede, Chief Executive Officer of Ocean Yield, noted that the company has solidified its standing as a globally diversified maritime leasing platform and is well positioned to accelerate its next phase of sustainable growth under A.P. Moller Holding’s stewardship.

KKR will continue to maintain a strategic partnership with Ocean Yield through its co-investment in Cape Omega Gas Transportation AS.

The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
