SM Line has revised its Transpacific PNS (Pacific North-South) service by discontinuing the port call at Yantian (Shenzhen) and introducing a dedicated feeder service—the Shenzhen–Busan Express (SBX)—to facilitate efficient transshipment.
The SBX shuttle will operate on a weekly basis using a 1,000-TEU vessel, enabling the transfer of cargo previously handled directly on the PNS mainline from Yantian to Busan for onward conveyance across the Transpacific corridor.
Concurrently, SM Line will optimize its PNS fleet deployment by reducing the number of vessels from six to five, all of approximately 4,300 TEUs, thereby enhancing operational efficiency without compromising capacity or schedule reliability.
The updated PNS rotation is as follows: Busan → Ningbo → Shanghai → Busan → Vancouver → Seattle → Busan.
This reconfiguration allows SM Line to retain connectivity to Yantian via Busan—a key transshipment hub—while streamlining its Transpacific network structure and improving resource utilization.
