The surcharge—applicable to all container types—will take effect for vessel departures commencing on 15 July 2026 and will remain in force until further notice. The rate is set at USD 500 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) across the affected trade lanes.
Covered origin ports include major gateways across the designated regions, such as Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Aqaba (Jordan), and Aden (Yemen), among others. All cargo originating from these locations and bound for Australian ports falls within the scope of this surcharge.
This measure aligns with industry-standard practices for addressing predictable seasonal demand surges and associated operational cost pressures on the Asia–Australia corridor. Hapag-Lloyd continues to monitor market conditions and may adjust or withdraw the surcharge in accordance with prevailing commercial and logistical requirements.
