Hapag-Lloyd to discontinue CCM service
2026-06-08

Hapag-Lloyd has announced the scheduled discontinuation of its Central America–Mexico (CCM) service, effective with the final sailing in July 2026. The decision follows a strategic review of network efficiency and demand patterns across the Mexico–Central America trade corridor.

The CCM service currently serves Lázaro Cárdenas (Mexico), Acajutla (El Salvador), and Corinto (Nicaragua). Its last scheduled rotation will be operated by the MV "Chiapas" (Voyage 686877), departing Lázaro Cárdenas on 7 July 2026.

To ensure continuity of service for key destinations following the withdrawal, Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed the following alternative routing arrangements:

• Cargo destined for Corinto, Nicaragua, will be seamlessly transferred to the carrier’s established Central America–Caribbean Express (CCE) service;

• Shipments bound for El Salvador will be consolidated via Puerto Barrios (Guatemala), with coordinated onward connections to final destinations within El Salvador.

This adjustment forms part of Hapag-Lloyd’s broader Latin American network optimization initiative—aimed at enhancing asset utilization, improving schedule reliability, and aligning service deployment with evolving shipper requirements and regional trade flows.
