Maersk revises PSS to Kenya & Dar es Salaam
2026-06-05

Maersk has announced an adjustment to its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for containerized cargo shipments from the People’s Republic of China (including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) to Kenya (all ports) and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, effective 15 June 2026, subject to further notice.

Revised PSS rates are as follows:

• To Kenya: USD 1,000 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU), USD 2,000 per 40-foot equivalent unit (FEU), and USD 2,000 per 45-foot high-cube dry container (HQ);

• To Dar es Salaam: USD 1,000 per TEU, USD 1,400 per FEU, and USD 1,400 per HQ.

This surcharge applies exclusively to non-spot bookings and is levied in accordance with Freight Prepaid terms. The applicable rate is determined based on the Price Lock-in Date: for non-FMC-regulated bookings, this corresponds to the scheduled departure date of the first ocean leg at the time of booking confirmation; for FMC-regulated bookings, it is the date of the last container gate-in at the origin terminal.

In addition to the above PSS, other standard surcharges—including local destination charges and contingency-related fees—remain applicable in accordance with Maersk’s prevailing tariff structure.
