The surcharges apply to dry and refrigerated container shipments originating from the Far East—including China, Hong Kong, Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam—to destinations in the United States (West Coast and East Coast), Canada (West Coast and East Coast), Kenya (Nairobi/Mombasa), and Tanzania (Dar es Salaam). Notably, PSS for shipments originating from Vietnam will become effective on June 2, 2026.
Under the updated structure:
• For shipments to Kenya, the PSS is USD 1,000 per 20-foot dry container and USD 1,500 per 40- or 45-foot dry or refrigerated container.
• For shipments to Dar es Salaam, the PSS ranges from USD 700 to USD 900, depending on container type and origin; specifically, shipments from China and Hong Kong are subject to USD 500 for 20-foot dry containers and USD 900 for 40- or 45-foot dry containers.
Maersk states that these adjustments reflect its commitment to maintaining service reliability and network integrity amid seasonal demand fluctuations and evolving operational constraints.
