Evergreen Marine Corp (EMC). and Pacific International Lines (PIL) will jointly inaugurate the Far East–South Africa Express (SAF) service in late June 2026, enhancing maritime connectivity and supply chain resilience between Asia and Southern Africa.  

The service will be deployed with a dedicated fleet of nine container vessels, each with a nominal capacity of approximately 5,500 TEUs, enabling weekly sailings and improved schedule reliability across the corridor.  

The SAF loop comprises scheduled port calls at key logistics hubs: Shanghai → Ningbo → Kaohsiung → Shenzhen (Shekou) → Singapore → Durban → Cape Town → Singapore → Shanghai. This fully integrated rotation ensures end-to-end coverage and operational efficiency.

The launch of the SAF service responds to sustained growth in bilateral trade volumes and evolving customer requirements for greater frequency, predictability, and capacity on the Far East–South Africa corridor—thereby strengthening regional trade facilitation and supporting long-term supply chain stability.
