United Africa Feeder Lines (UAFL) has expanded its Middle East Express (MEX) service by incorporating Sohar Port (Oman) into the vessel rotation, thereby strengthening maritime connectivity across the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa, as reported by DynaLiners.
The MEX service currently serves major ports in India and Pakistan—including Nhava Sheva and Mundra—and extends to island and coastal destinations in the Western Indian Ocean, such as Mutsamudu (Comoros), Port Victoria (Seychelles), and Nacala (Mozambique). The inclusion of Sohar introduces a strategically located Gulf hub, enhancing regional coverage, optimizing transit routes, and improving schedule reliability for shippers operating across these trade corridors.
The service is operated by two dedicated feeder vessels, each with a nominal capacity of approximately 1,800 TEUs, deployed on a fixed 21-day round-trip schedule.
Under the revised rotation, the MEX service calls sequentially at: Nhava Sheva (India) → Mundra (India) → Karachi (Pakistan) → Sohar (Oman) → Mutsamudu (Comoros) → Nacala (Mozambique) → Nhava Sheva (India).
This enhancement reinforces UAFL’s commitment to integrated, end-to-end ocean connectivity in the Indian Ocean region and supports more resilient, time-efficient, and cost-optimized shipping solutions for regional stakeholders.
