Maersk revises cargo insurance & cargo care rates
2026-04-16

The revised rates will become effective on 13 April 2026 for non-Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)-regulated trade lanes and on 13 May 2026 for FMC-regulated trades. These rates will remain in effect until further notice, subject to regulatory approval where applicable.

This adjustment reflects an updated risk assessment of cargo integrity across the affected markets—including elevated exposure to handling-related damage, port infrastructure constraints, and climatic volatility—necessitating a proportional recalibration of coverage pricing across all tiers.

Under the revised structure:

• Maersk Cargo Insurance rates for dry cargo shipments range from USD 290 to USD 1,596 for Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, and from USD 309 to USD 1,696 for Israel and the UAE—varying by selected coverage level (Basic, Standard, Premium).

• For temperature-controlled cargo, insurance rates range from USD 480 to USD 2,599 (Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and from USD 499 to USD 2,699 (Israel and the UAE).

• Property coverage under cargo insurance is now structured as follows: Basic packages at USD 1,214 (Saudi Arabia/Lebanon) and USD 1,259 (Israel/UAE); Premium packages at USD 1,909 and USD 1,969, respectively.

Similarly, Maersk Cargo Care service rates have been adjusted upward:

• Dry cargo care packages range from USD 268 to USD 1,368 (Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and from USD 287 to USD 1,468 (Israel and the UAE).

• Temperature-controlled cargo care packages range from USD 280 to USD 1,679 (Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and from USD 299 to USD 1,779 (Israel and the UAE).

• Property-related cargo care packages are priced between USD 770 and USD 1,110 (Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and between USD 815 and USD 1,170 (Israel and the UAE).

For contractual (non-spot) bookings, the applicable rate is determined based on the price calculation date: the scheduled departure date of the first ocean leg for non-FMC trades; and the last container gate-in date for FMC-regulated trades. For spot bookings, the rate is locked in as of the booking confirmation date.

Maersk emphasizes that the revised rates are exclusive of, and in addition to, all applicable local surcharges, contingency fees, and regulatory levies. They do not supersede or replace any tariffs filed separately with national authorities or regulatory bodies in accordance with local legal requirements.
