During the same period, foreign trade cargo throughput amounted to 5.16 billion tonnes, reflecting a 4.1% growth compared to the previous year. This demonstrates the continued resilience of China's external trade flows amid uneven global demand.

Container throughput at Chinese ports reached 324.73 million TEUs, marking a 6.6% year-on-year increase and highlighting sustained expansion in containerized trade and logistics operations.

These figures encompass all coastal and inland ports nationwide and represent cumulative volumes for the first eleven months of 2025. The data confirms that container traffic continues to grow faster than overall cargo volumes, supported by stable export performance and recovering import demand.

The Ministry of Transport data further indicates that foreign trade cargo growth remained generally consistent with total port cargo expansion, underscoring the critical role of ports in facilitating China's trade activities and industrial supply chains during this period.

China's port system remains the largest globally by throughput volume, with ongoing investments in terminal infrastructure, inland transportation connectivity, and digitalized port operations contributing to throughput growth across both coastal and inland waterways.
