Going forward, Henan will continue to advance the integrated development of waterways and ports along the Shaying, Huaihe, Tangbai, and Tuokuai river basins. The province aims to further expand its inland waterway network, foster port-adjacent industrial clusters, and accelerate the establishment of a modern inland waterway transportation system with full provincial coverage, national connectivity, and global reach—supporting regional economic integration and aligning with the national strategy of "Dual Circulation."

According to project plans, a total of 22 berths capable of handling 2,000-ton vessels will be constructed, with an annual comprehensive throughput capacity of 1.76 million TEUs, implemented in two phases. Phase I has been completed and includes 13 berths spanning a total quay length of 1,089 meters, covering an area of 2,061 mu (approximately 137.4 hectares, where 1 mu equals 666.7 square meters). This makes it the largest container-dedicated inland waterway port in Henan Province to date in terms of berth count and operational scale, significantly strengthening its leading position and enhancing its role as a logistics hub.

As Henan’s first inland container terminal designed for an annual throughput exceeding one million TEUs, the Phase I facility has a designed capacity of 1.075 million TEUs. By leveraging the inherent advantages of inland waterway transport—low operating costs and high cargo capacity—the port is poised to become a key driver for regional economic growth and a critical contributor to reducing overall social logistics expenses.
