Hapag-Lloyd, a container shipping line headquartered in Hamburg, has declared a new General Rate Increase (GRI) or General Rate Adjustment (GRA) for shipments originating from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to North America.

The GRI/GRA will be enforced for goods carried in 20-foot and 40-foot dry, refrigerated, and special containers, encompassing high cube units, on all fully gated-in cargo from November 20th onwards until additional notice is provided.

The enhanced rates for consignments moving from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan to the United States and Canada will be increased by $500 per container.
