Major Chinese ports container volume up 4.4% in late Sep

Export container volume grew 5.9% while the domestic volume dropped 0.3%. The ports of Xiamen, Qingdao and Ningbo-Zhoushan all posted a growth rate of over 10%. 

Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports increased 8.1%. The international trade cargo throughput was up 2.5% while domestic volume rose 13.28%.

Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports posted a fast growth of 17.3% year-on-year. Among which the three ports from Shandong province, Qingdao, Rizhao and Yantai, and the port of Guangzhou achieved over 20% growth. 

Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports increased 5% while the port inventory also grew 14.99%.

Cargo throughput at three major Yangtze River ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing increased 10.3% and 8.7% respectively.

For the whole month of September, container volume at eight major Chinese coastal ports increased 1.5% while the cargo throughput of hub ports grew 2.5%.
