Maersk Announces November Australia and New Zealand Land Freight Fuel Surcharge!
2026-10-30

In Australia, the Intermodal Fuel Surcharge will be reduced to 25% across five states—Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia—down from 27% applied in October 2026. This adjustment reflects ongoing efforts to align surcharge levels with current fuel cost dynamics.

In New Zealand, the Intermodal Fuel Surcharge will remain unchanged at 27%, consistent with the rate introduced on 16 March 2026. For export shipments, the surcharge is designated as the Export Fuel Surcharge (EFS); for imports, it is applied as the Import Fuel Surcharge (IFS).

Maersk attributes the introduction and periodic review of this surcharge to sustained volatility in global energy markets, constrained fuel supply conditions, and geopolitical developments—including heightened instability in the Middle East—that continue to impact transportation logistics and associated operational costs. The surcharge levels will undergo monthly review, and Maersk reserves the right to implement further adjustments in response to evolving energy market conditions.
