This order follows earlier market speculation—reported by DynaLiners—regarding Maersk’s potential procurement of up to 42 newbuilds, with capacities ranging between 18,000 and 24,000 TEU. The confirmed order represents a refined and finalized scope aligned with the carrier’s strategic decarbonization roadmap and fleet renewal priorities.
The 26 vessels will collectively add approximately 484,000 TEU of new capacity to Maersk’s fleet. This expansion increases the company’s current vessel orderbook by roughly 28%, bringing the total contracted capacity to approximately 2.2 million TEU.
Neither the selected shipyards nor the financial value of the contracts has been disclosed at this stage. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled between 2029 and 2030.
