No more detours through the Red Sea? MSC secretly changes its route
2026-09-23

The Indusa Service—linking the Indian subcontinent, the United States, and Mexico—will reinstate Red Sea routing exclusively for westbound cargo movements. Eastbound sailings will continue to be routed via the Cape of Good Hope, maintaining service reliability and safety standards.

The first westbound voyage under the revised routing will be operated by MSC Domna X (Voyage IV637A), scheduled to depart Colombo on 23 September 2026.

MSC will progressively update booking confirmations and publicly accessible vessel schedules to reflect these adjustments. Implementation will be executed on a case-by-case basis, aligned with real-time operational feasibility and cargo requirements.

The company remains in close coordination with regional authorities, international maritime security partners, and industry stakeholders. Contingency protocols—including the ability to reroute individual voyages—are fully maintained and remain ready for activation should prevailing conditions warrant.

MSC reaffirms that the safety and well-being of its seafarers, the integrity of its vessels, and the secure delivery of customers’ cargo constitute its foremost operational priority.
