Eligible users—including the consignee and notify party designated on the shipment—can now access the Import Demurrage Last Free Day (LFD) for individual containers via the carrier’s Online Business Suite.

The displayed LFD reflects the final day the container may remain at the port without incurring demurrage charges. This date is dynamically calculated based on multiple operational and contractual factors, including container availability, movement type (e.g., import drayage or rail), applicable tariff provisions or service agreements, and real-time terminal status.

At ports integrated with the PayCargo Container Payment Portal, users will also see a direct link to the portal’s watchlist functionality—enabling them to monitor the LFD and initiate payment of any applicable demurrage fees electronically.

Access to this information is strictly role-based and restricted to authorized parties identified in the bill of lading: specifically, the consignee and notify party. No other stakeholders—including shippers, freight forwarders not listed as notify parties, or third-party agents—will have visibility into these details.

Hapag-Lloyd emphasizes that the LFD displayed in the Import Overview tool is derived from live shipment and container data; it serves solely as an informational reference and does not alter contractual free-time allowances, tariff terms, or operational obligations. Notably, shipments under U.S. flag vessel operations are excluded from this feature.
