Freight forwarders in uproar! CMA CGM to implement new cancellation policy starting Sep
2026-08-25

CMA CGM will implement Early Cancellation Fees for selected SpotOn bookings, effective 19 September 2026.  The fee will apply exclusively to designated trade lanes when customers cancel or reduce their bookings between 15 and 21 days prior to the estimated time of departure (ETD).

Revised cancellation framework for SpotOn bookings

Under the updated policy:

  • Cancellations or booking reductions made more than 21 days before ETD remain exempt from charges across all trade lanes;

  • Cancellations or reductions made between 15 and 21 days before ETD incur an Early Cancellation Fee on specified trade lanes only;

  • Cancellations or reductions made between 7 and 14 days before ETD are subject to the standard Cancellation Fee, applicable uniformly across all trade lanes;

  • Cancellations made fewer than 7 days before ETD trigger a No-Show Fee, also applied uniformly across all trade lanes.

All applicable cancellation and amendment charges are explicitly disclosed in the SpotOn quotation provided at the time of pricing request.

CMA CGM states that this adjustment reinforces the operational priority afforded to SpotOn bookings—including guaranteed booking confirmation, equipment allocation, and end-to-end loading assurance—thereby enhancing service reliability and resource planning efficiency.
