Maersk is updating its temporary emergency inland fuel and energy surcharge (EIES) for door-to-door inland transport in the Nordic and Baltic regions, effective for shipments with a planned cargo delivery (PCD) date of 29 July 2026 and thereafter. This measure responds to sustained increases in fuel and energy costs driven by ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East.

The surcharge applies to store-door (SD) shipments in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. It will remain in effect until further notice, subject to periodic review.

Applicable rates are as follows:  

• Denmark: 11%  

• Sweden: 7%  

• Norway: 0%  

• Finland: 4%  

• Lithuania: 4%  

• Latvia: 11%  

• Estonia: 16%

Maersk confirms that electric truck and rail-based transport solutions—where operationally deployed—are exempt from this surcharge. The carrier will conduct weekly assessments of market conditions and adjust the EIES rates accordingly, with any changes communicated promptly to customers.
