Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk cut off Salvador port
2026-08-02
Under the revised network configuration, Salvador will remain accessible to shippers via feeder services connecting through Pecém, leveraging Maersk’s domestically operated coastal network in Brazil—managed by its subsidiary Aliança.
The updated port rotation is as follows:
New York → Philadelphia → Charleston → Port Everglades → Santos → Buenos Aires → Montevideo → Rio Grande → Itapoá → Santos → Rio de Janeiro → Pecém → New York.
This adjustment reclassifies Salvador from a mainline port call to a feeder-served node, thereby preserving end-to-end cargo connectivity while optimizing vessel deployment and network efficiency.
