2026-06-30

The naming ceremony was held on 26 June at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The vessel was christened by Mrs. Wei-Nung Kao, spouse of Mr. Feng-Ming Tsai, Chairman of Yang Ming.

Measuring 364.97 metres in length and 51 metres in beam, the 15,600 TEU vessel is powered by a high-pressure dual-fuel main engine capable of operating on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and low-sulfur fuel oil. Utilisation of LNG is projected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by approximately 20% relative to conventional marine fuels.

Yang Ming reported that its two sister vessels, YM Willpower and YM Worthiness, are already operating predominantly on LNG. To date, these vessels have collectively consumed over 11,158 metric tonnes of LNG, resulting in an estimated reduction of 12,532 metric tonnes of GHG emissions.

YM Wayfinder is scheduled to commence commercial operations on 1 July aboard Yang Ming’s Asia–North Europe FE3 service, calling at Qingdao, Ningbo, Yantian, Singapore, Felixstowe, Antwerp, and Hamburg.

According to Yang Ming, the integration of this new LNG dual-fuel vessel enhances operational efficiency, reinforces network competitiveness, and advances the company’s strategic commitment to delivering lower-carbon container transportation solutions.
