Evergreen Marine Corp. has placed a firm order for five 24,000-TEU LNG-powered container vessels with Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd. (GSI). Each vessel is priced between USD 262 million and USD 295 million, resulting in a total contract value of approximately USD 1.31–1.47 billion.

This order follows closely—within five to six weeks—of Evergreen’s board approval for a separate firm order of six identically sized (24,000-TEU) LNG-fueled vessels from Hanwha Ocean, underscoring the carrier’s accelerated and targeted fleet modernization strategy in the ultra-large container vessel (ULCV) segment.
