The berthing of the MV Guo Yun Hai and the official launch of COSCO Shipping’s North Africa Express service mark an exciting and meaningful milestone in China–Libya maritime cooperation—bringing closer ties, faster connections, and new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
By offering a direct link between China and Libya—bypassing intermediate transhipment ports—the new route helps shorten transit times, enhances cargo planning flexibility, and supports more predictable, cost-effective shipping for importers, exporters, and industrial partners across both countries.
This development is especially heartening for Libya’s logistics sector. For many years, direct container services from the Far East have been rare, leaving most shipments reliant on third-party hubs—often leading to longer waits and higher supply chain costs. Today’s launch reflects a shared commitment to building more resilient, efficient, and inclusive trade pathways.
As part of COSCO Shipping’s broader North Africa Express network, this service not only strengthens regional supply chain reliability but also opens new doors for Libyan businesses to connect with global markets—with warmth, consistency, and growing confidence.
The service will operate bi-monthly using modern, high-capacity container vessels—including the 300-meter-long MV Guo Yun Hai—and covers key ports across China and North Africa with full direct coverage. The port rotation is: Qingdao → Incheon → Shanghai → Ningbo → Guangzhou Nansha → Suez Canal → Port Said West (Egypt) → Benghazi (Libya) → Misurata (Libya) → Valencia (Spain).
