Ocean Network Express (ONE) has officially launched the Mediterranean Africa Express (MAX) service—a new weekly deep-sea container shipping loop designed to strengthen end-to-end maritime connectivity between Asia, the Mediterranean region, and key African import and export markets via strategically positioned transshipment hubs.
The MAX service establishes a direct, integrated link between major Mediterranean gateway ports—including Piraeus, Valencia, and Algeciras—and key West, East, and South African destinations such as Tema, Dar es Salaam, Durban, and Lagos. This configuration enhances cargo velocity, improves transit time consistency, and expands coverage across high-potential African trade corridors.
By leveraging established Mediterranean transshipment hubs, ONE optimizes network resilience and operational efficiency—enabling flexible vessel deployment, scalable capacity allocation, and robust schedule integrity across multiple trade lanes. The service is particularly tailored to support growing demand in consumer goods, industrial machinery, and project cargo segments, reflecting evolving supply chain requirements in fast-developing African economies.
This initiative aligns with ONE’s broader strategic focus on strengthening intra-regional connectivity and capturing growth opportunities in emerging markets. Africa’s containerized trade volume has risen steadily over recent years, underpinned by infrastructure modernization, regional trade agreements (e.g., AfCFTA), and expanding middle-class consumption.
Scheduled to commence operations in Q3 2026, the MAX service reinforces ONE’s commitment to delivering reliable, predictable, and competitively positioned ocean solutions for customers engaged in Asia–Africa trade—further solidifying its presence across high-growth, high-impact maritime corridors.
