The revised ECS rates will become effective for bookings with a Price Calculation Date of 6 April 2026. A further adjustment will apply to bookings with a Price Calculation Date of 20 April 2026.
For the E3W lane (originating from North West India and Pakistan to North Europe):
Dry containers (20’ and 40’) will see the ECS increase from USD 700 to USD 1,000 per TEU;
Reefer containers will increase from USD 1,700 to USD 2,000 per TEU.
For the E4W lane (to the Mediterranean):
Dry containers will be subject to an ECS of USD 1,100–1,300 per TEU, up from USD 800–1,000;
Reefer containers will increase from USD 2,000 to USD 2,300 per TEU.
The surcharge applies uniformly across all container types, including out-of-gauge (OOG) units, shipper-owned containers (SOCs), non-operating reefers (NORs), and 40’ special equipment — the latter being charged at the same rate as standard dry containers.
Maersk emphasizes that these adjustments are subject to applicable regulatory approvals and statutory notice requirements. The updated ECS amounts will be reflected in customer invoices in accordance with contractual terms and billing cycles.
The carrier states that the revision reflects sustained operational complexities and cost pressures along this trade corridor, and reserves the right to implement additional adjustments should market conditions warrant further review.
