ONE introduces IFC for Latin America trades
2026-04-08

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has introduced an Inland Fuel Charge (IFL/IFD) for carrier-provided inland transportation services across Latin America, effective 2 April 2026 for non-Federal Maritime Commission (FMC)-regulated trades and 2 May 2026 for FMC-regulated trades—including shipments to and from the United States, Canada, Colombia, and Ecuador.

This surcharge responds to sustained volatility in global fuel markets, driven primarily by supply constraints following the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz and associated disruptions to refinery operations and fuel distribution networks worldwide.

The IFL/IFD applies uniformly to all inbound and outbound container movements handled under carrier haulage across ONE’s Latin American service network, covering Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

ONE emphasizes that this measure is not a profit-generating initiative but a necessary cost-recovery mechanism designed to preserve service reliability, ensure cargo integrity, and uphold operational continuity amid persistent fuel price uncertainty and logistical strain across key inland corridors.
