FIRST BUNKERING OF GREEN METHANOL FUEL AT SHANGHAI PORT. April 10th,2024
Shanghai is proactive in its environmental endeavors, including the establishment of facilities by Shenergy Group for the production of green methanol from food waste. This initiative is aimed at supporting the shipping industry’s carbon emission reduction objectives. The city is projected to manufacture between 70,000 to 100,000 tonnes of this sustainable fuel each year by 2025. Moreover, the Shanghai Futures Exchange has introduced futures contracts for the Containerized Freight Index, enabling industry participants to guard against erratic freight rate fluctuations, thereby enhancing Shanghai’s preeminence in both shipping volumes and related services.
