Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. announced the successful delivery of China’s self-developed liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel container vessel on October 21 in Dalian.
Constructed for the world’s largest container shipping line, MSC, the vessel measures 366 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and has a molded depth of 30.2 meters, with a design draft of 14.5 meters.
According to the shipbuilder, it possesses a capacity to carry 16,044 standard containers along with an additional 1,800 refrigerated units; its innovative dual-fuel design allows for operation on both LNG and marine fuel oils.
The vessel is equipped with a Type-B LNG fuel tank that holds 13,000 cubic meters of LNG—offering enhanced capacity and efficiency compared to traditional tanks while minimizing dependence on conventional fuels.
Moreover, Dalian Shipbuilding has integrated various energy-saving technologies and devices aimed at improving both the economic viability and environmental performance of this new vessel.
